Your Permanent Tooth Replacement
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed into your jawbone to replace missing tooth roots. These posts fuse naturally with your bone through osseointegration, creating a stable foundation for replacement teeth. We use advanced placement techniques at The Smile Company to ensure precision throughout your treatment. Once integrated, we attach a custom crown, bridge, or denture that matches your natural teeth.
Whether you’re missing one tooth or need full-mouth restoration, implants provide durable tooth replacement. For patients in Greenville, this treatment eliminates denture slipping while preventing bone loss. You’ll regain full chewing power and speak clearly without worrying about your teeth shifting.

Dental Implants Could Be Your Solution
Your Treatment Path
What Happens During Your Dental Implant Procedure
1
Consultation and Planning
r first visit includes a comprehensive 3D scan of your jaw and a full evaluation of your oral health. We use this detailed imaging to map the precise placement of your implant and create a treatment plan built around your specific needs. You’ll leave this appointment with a clear understanding of your timeline, costs, and what comes next.
2
Implant Placement
On the day of your procedure, we place a small titanium post directly into your jawbone. Our Greenville surgical center is equipped with advanced technology for accurate, comfortable placement. IV sedation is available so you can relax completely throughout the process. Most patients describe the experience as far easier than they anticipated.
3
Healing and Final Restoration
Over the following months, the titanium post bonds naturally with your jawbone to create a permanent foundation. Once fully secure, we design and attach your custom crown right here in our on-site lab at The Smile Company. Your finished restoration matches your natural teeth in color, shape, and function.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dental Implant FAQs
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last 20+ years or even a lifetime. The titanium post that fuses with your jawbone is extremely durable. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups help ensure longevity. We’ve placed implants that still function perfectly after decades.
Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Most adults with good general health qualify for dental implants. You’ll need adequate jawbone density and healthy gums. Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking may affect candidacy. We offer comprehensive evaluations to determine your suitability and discuss alternatives if needed.
What does the dental implant procedure involve?
The process typically involves placing a titanium post into your jawbone, followed by a healing period of 3-6 months while it integrates with the bone. We then attach an abutment and custom crown. Some patients qualify for same-day implants with immediate temporary teeth.
Will getting dental implants hurt?
Local anesthesia ensures you won’t feel pain during the procedure itself. Most patients report minimal discomfort afterward, similar to a tooth extraction. We offer sedation options for anxious patients, and over-the-counter pain medication typically manages any post-procedure soreness effectively.
How much time off work will I need?
Recovery varies by individual, but most patients return to work within 1-2 days after implant placement. If you have a physically demanding job, you might need 3-4 days. We’ll provide specific guidance based on your procedure complexity and work requirements.
Can dental implants fail?
Dental implants have a 95% success rate when properly placed and maintained. Rare failures usually occur from infection, inadequate bone integration, or poor oral hygiene. Following aftercare instructions and maintaining good oral health significantly reduces any risk of complications.
What's the difference between dental implants and bridges?
Unlike bridges that rely on adjacent teeth for support and require grinding down healthy teeth, implants stand independently with their own root system. Implants also prevent bone loss and typically last longer. Bridges need replacement every 10-15 years while implants can last decades.
How do I care for dental implants?
Care for implants just like natural teeth with daily brushing and flossing. No special products or complicated routines required. Regular dental checkups allow us to monitor your implants and surrounding tissues. Unlike dentures, you won’t need adhesives or overnight soaking.
What if I need multiple teeth replaced?
Options include individual implants for each tooth or implant-supported bridges for several adjacent teeth. For full arch replacement, All-on-4 technology uses just four strategically placed implants to support an entire set of teeth, providing a cost-effective solution.
How soon can I eat normally after getting implants?
Soft foods are recommended for the first week after surgery. As healing progresses, you can gradually return to your regular diet. Once fully integrated and restored with the permanent crown, your implant functions exactly like a natural tooth with no dietary restrictions.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐From day one, The Smile Company has made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. The entire team is incredibly kind, caring, and engaging. They truly take the time to listen, explain everything, and do everything they can to help you. Going to the dentist can be stressful, but they make every visit such a positive experience.I even brought them some homemade cinnamon rolls from my small business, and they showed me so much love and support. That meant more to me than they know. It’s rare to find a dental office that genuinely treats you like family, and that’s exactly how they make me feel.I’m so thankful I found The Smile Company and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dental team that truly cares about their patients. Thank you all for everything you do!Also shout to Mr.Matthew and his beautiful wife Mrs.Scarlet and to the Doctor himself Dr.Jacob you have such an amazing team behind you !! I definitely recommend them to anyone !!!!!

I TOOK MY MOTHER TO THE SMILE CO. IN GREENVILLE TO SEE DR. THORPE JACOBS. MY MOTHER IS IN HER LATE 70’s AND ⭐️NOT IN THE BEST HEALTH. DR. JACOBS AND HIS STAFF WERE VERY THOROUGH & PROFESSIONAL. MY MOTHER HAD HER UPPER TEETH EXTRACTED, IMPLANT POSTS PLACED AND A NON-REMOVABLE UPPER PLATE IN LESS THAN HALF A DAY. I HAVE BEEN A NURSE FOR 30+ YEARS AND I WAS VERY CONCERNED WITH HOW THINGS WOULD GO. SHE DID ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL AND NEVER COMPLAINED OF ANY DISCOMFORT. SHE LOVES HER SMILE NOW AND HAS ACTUALLY STARTED PHYSICALLY FEELING BETTER. SHE IS NOW MORE ACTIVE AND OUTGOING. IT HAS CHANGED HER LIFE FOR THE BETTER AND GIVEN HER CONFIDENCE AND A SMILE SHE IS PROUD OF. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SMILE CO. , 5 STARS ALL THE WAY ⭐️

I absolutely love this place. Like look forward to going in. It is a very inviting and calm atmosphere. Most of all though everyone knows you by name(which is a really big thing to me). The dental work is amazing. I get so many compliments on how pretty my teeth are. And having Dr. Jacob do them instead of other dentist was the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. I promise it’s worth it. My anesthesiologist was great and so nice and that just makes you feel more comfortable. Dr Jacob’s is so very nice and you can tell he cares a lot towards what the patient wants done. Chrissy has been so helpful from the beginning and explains everything so well to you..I was honestly amazed at how well she described everything that was going to be done and how thorough she was. Matthew and Scarlett were very helpful in helping me get everything set up and they answered every question I had..even though I didn’t have all the questions at 1time. I have a family member that loves the service and care I received and how amazing my teeth look that will be going to see Dr Jacob’s and his staff about getting some of his dental work done. If I were you I would choose this place to have my implants done. The quality and care is exceptional. And as I said the office is a very relaxing place.
